To quote a great artist - “Gotta roll this bucket, ‘cause my Benz is in the shop”
I don’t mind it though, it’s a cool thing to drive.

Does it have a Jaguar XJ220 engine?
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:17 |

Better! 2.5 TD (non-intercooled). 85 hp of pure excitement.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:19 |

Can you get it on two wheels?
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:19 |

Yes, if I use jacks.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:20 |

How many corpses can fit in there?
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:20 |

Can it do it without jacks?

If there’s a turbo, it must be the least pressurising turbo in automotive history. The original Golf had something like 50 bhp from a non-turbo 1.5 and that was forty years ago.

3 up front if you want them to be comfortable. In the back you can put 10 200 lb corpses before exceeding the weight limit.

How many refugees can fit in there?
Fixed! (lots, is the answer)
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:26 |

Yes, if I use a kerb to aid me and won’t mind having to lift it back on its wheels soon after..

I bought one of these for $500 in high school with a blown turbo. Mine was a passenger version with a few rows of seats.
Slowest car I’ve ever driven (the turbo wasn’t turbo’ing the diesel engine) but all that space and tinted windows made it ideal for high school parking lots
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:33 |

The NA version of this engine produces 69 hp IIRC.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:35 |

Exciting! And despite that they still go surprisingly quickly on motorways.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:36 |

I’m definitely planning a tailgating extravaganza!
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:39 |

Perfect. I may visit you shortly.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:43 |

I have a couple tanks of diesel in the back. Will that be an issue?

What do you think is the reason Ford made this bodystyle virtually unchanged for 150 years?
Will it do donuts?
Will it carry donuts?
How much pussy does one get while driving it?
What dark magic did your dad use to keep it rust free for more than eiht months?
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:43 |

Was this engine the soundtrack to your childhood like it was mine? Every minibus was either the transit or an LDV with the same engine.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:44 |

was that a Sir Mix A Lot reference?
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:49 |
|
Nah
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:51 |
|
Is that the one with the goofy hood release?
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:52 |
|
1. This bodystyle was simply perfect.
2. No, but it has a light arse and an open diff so it’ll do peg legged burnouts.
3. Yes! The cargo area is climate controlled.
4. White van drivers have a special magic spell just for that! It involves shouting ‘Oi, love! Nice tits, nice arse!’ out the window.
5. We use a special combination of praying to various gods, exorcisms, voodoo, rust check (and other things like it), filler, white paint, welding and body/floor rebuilds. 2 years ago we brought it back from grave’s edge, after that I’m pleased to inform that it’s doing fine!
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:52 |

Nope. My dad’s 2011 Transit has the key operated hood release however.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:53 |
|
Maybe :]
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:55 |
|
Thats the one!
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:55 |
|
So you’re planning a robbery, then?
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:55 |
|
Yes! Back when I was a kid I could easily tell when my dad was coming home just by the racket of this van approaching.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 12:56 |
|
Planning? Nah...
![]() 11/09/2015 at 13:13 |

Every school trip, every scouts trip, every army cadets trip, every builders van, airport taxi, removal van, everything made that nasty screaming 2.5 diesel clatter.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 13:15 |
|
Nasty? It’s the sweet, sweet sound of days gone by. :D
![]() 11/09/2015 at 13:17 |
|
It’s a nasty noise objectively, but it’s the beautiful sound of nostalgia.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 13:22 |
|
Frankly, I find it much less annoying than the more high-pitch sounds some small diesels make.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 13:25 |
|
The previous ones were even worse...
![]() 11/09/2015 at 13:32 |
|
That looks extremely clean. Where are you hiding the rust?
![]() 11/09/2015 at 13:37 |
|
Ah but you see I am the tender ages of 24, I don’t remember the transits prior to this that well
![]() 11/09/2015 at 13:39 |
|
That photo is really old though (8 years or so). The it managed to get horribly rusty since then and undergo a complete body rebuild 2 years ago. :P
![]() 11/09/2015 at 19:26 |
|
So, like four 126s of power then? :P
![]() 11/09/2015 at 19:51 |
|
Almost. The Transit isn’t any quicker up until 50-60 kph though.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 21:50 |
|
Does it make you a stereotypical van driver? Also, will it be able to transit me to a transit station so I can transit to a new place?
![]() 11/09/2015 at 22:34 |
|
I guess we can give a little kudos to the FIAT in that case then! :)
![]() 11/10/2015 at 04:17 |

top speed? mach 1 or 2?
![]() 11/10/2015 at 05:59 |
|
Yes and yes. And yes.
![]() 11/10/2015 at 06:02 |
|
Mach 5 minus about 6045 kph.
![]() 11/10/2015 at 06:03 |
|
oh come on , everyone knows white van man is fastest man on planet
;)
![]() 11/10/2015 at 06:05 |

All the really close drafting helps :D
